Affton

Affton is a character in the serial An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom. He is the butler at Tremont Keep around 990 KY.

Affton is described as "small and compact," with a cool, stern, removed demeanor. He runs the Keep with an iron fist, but is a fair man. The staff is terrified of him, but know that the punishment will fit the crime; he is not arbitrary, nor is he abusive. He is nearly bald, and prefers to be clean-shaven, though it is not the fashion. His great household rival is the king's secretary, Winmer.

Affton was born around 939 KY and has served at the Keep his entire life, being the scion of a family that has lived and worked at the Keep for centuries. He worked very hard to become butler, and he takes the position as a sacred duty. He never married, partly because he would never tell anyone what he sees as a "near-member" of the royal family.
