Eddin

Eddin the Wise One is the oldest son of Pagg the Father and Amma the Mother, and the counselor to the Gods. He is also called the Silver-Eyed for the unnatural color of his eyes. Eddin is at once the God of learning, technology, the intersexed, and literature. He is also a trickster god who often fools both mortals and His fellow Gods.

Eddin is the consort of Venna the Sister, though She prefers women for her lovers. Eddin's Courtships tells the story of how He learned the secret of changing forms from the nature spirits and seduced Venna in the form of a woman, producing a son named Twilight. Not long after, He was pursued by his brother Farr, a lover of men. Eddin turned into a woman at the last minute and found Himself with child afterwards. He gave birth to a daughter named Dawn.

Services at His Temple are on Eddinday, our Wednesday. His holiday is Winter's Beginning, our Winter Solstice or New Year. Children are given presents on his holiday, presumably of a general nature (as opposed to the religiously significant presents of a baby's Welcoming Ceremony). Eddin's Day is also when the calendar for the next year is announced

Priests of Eddin are known as Scholars. Eddin's high priest is called the Magister. His main Temple in Tremont City is called the Magisterium, and there is at the least a school if not a university attached to Eddin's Temples around the realm.

This may no longer be canon:

King Harsin IV is a devotee of Eddin, as is Bren.

Symbolism

Eddin's colors are gray and yellow. His symbols are a star and an hourglass. His animals are the fox and the owl. At royal presentations, the baby is given a telescope, a quadrant, and a pocket watch.

Eddin is based on Odin, Loki, Coyote, Prometheus, and Apollo (though Farr got the Sun God part, and Nerr and Neya got the art parts).
