EDMERKA, pron. ed-MERR-kah

Edmerka is a character in The Tale of Two Kingdoms, book one of An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom. She is the only child and heir of Fredrik the Last, and was married to both Hildin the Usurper and Warin the Wise. She is breathtakingly beautiful, with thick, chestnut brown hair, sapphire blue eyes, a straight nose and a soft mouth.

Raised to be a brat by the servants her nurse, Olka, Edmerka made the grave mistake of angering the Traveler Queen, who enchanted her so that she was forced to return the desire of anyone who wanted her. When she begged for relief, she was offered a gift of amnesia in exchange for giving the Queen's son Connin her virginity; her maiden blood was used to cure his crossed eyes. The Travelers left her in Warin's woods; he found her and since she didn't remember who she was, he named her Emmae. She later chose to keep that name, and so the annals of Tremont list her as Emmae instead of Edmerka.
