ELLIKA, pron. ELL-ih-kah
Ellika is a character from An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom. She is the middle child of Harsin IV and Ansella. Her older sister is Sedra, and her younger brother is Temmin. She is unaware of the existence of her illegitimate half-sister, Mattie. At the time our story begins in 990 KY, Ellika is 19 and a half; she was born the 12th day of Fall's Beginning, 970 KY. She is blond and petite like their mother but has her father's brown eyes. In the family, she is called Elly. Her ladies' maid is Iddie Clommert. She doesn't share her sister's habit of reading newspapers, preferring instead to glance through publications like Chodry's Ladies Book.
Ellika is full of business, to say the least. She loves dancing, parties, flirting and clothes, and will flirt with almost anyone, including Temmin and even The Teacher. While her sister is fond of elegant, understated style, Ellika's motto is "more is better." If a hat can have one rose on it, it can have a dozen. She is a fashion horse and keeps several Tremontine seamstresses, like e.g. Mistress Naister, rather busy. She is an excellent dancer and is considered one of the most beautiful girls in the kingdom.
She is a devotee of The Lovers. But she also loves people and is very compassionate in her way. Sometimes that can get her into trouble, as when she interfered with her brother's training at the Lovers' Temple. As part of her Temple duties she regularly works at the Healer's House, where she meets and befriends Bern Wallek, and even develops a crush on him.
