Gethin the Sad
From MeiLinWiki
Gethin the Sad is a character in An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom, appearing in book one, The Tale of Two Kingdoms. He was the father of Warin the Wise and Hildin the Usurper.
Gethin, officially Gethin II, earned his title "the Sad" the hard way. Gethin's wife Sella died after giving birth to his second son. Due to Warin's birth prophecy that he would have to spill the blood of the king before he could ascend to the throne and take a wife himself, Warin renounced his title and left the palace to live as a simple woodsman. During Gethin's long, debilitating disease before his death, his younger son Hildin held the regency and was the crowned king for a short time in 166 KY.
