Hildin the Usurper
From MeiLinWiki
Hildin II, better known as the Usurper, is a character in An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom, appearing in book one, The Tale of Two Kingdoms. He was the second son of Gethin the Sad and younger brother of Warin the Wise. The two brothers were raised separately, and shared no brotherly love. Hildin was sent away from court when his mother, Sella, died at his birth, and was raised at Whithorse. Hildin's literal partner in crime was his page, cousin and lover, Gill of Whithorse. His wet nurse was Old Meg.
Since Warin had renounced his title and left the palace, Hildin held the regency during Gethin's long, debilitating disease and succeeded his father in 166 KY, marrying the lost princess Edmerka of Leutefloss, now known as Emmae. His reign was very short-lived, though, as Warin reclaimed the throne - and Emmae - on the same day.
Hildin II was the last of the Tremontine Dynasty to wear that name, since use of the name Hildin was discontinued after his death.
