John Runnels

John Runnels is a character in the serial Scryer's Gulch. He has an eight year old son, Jamie. John has lost his wife, and Mrs Smith helps him both in the house and in caring for his son. He is described as a straight-backed, grim man; upright, brooding, angular, watchful, tense as a spring, with a face etched both by sun and grief.
John Runnels was hired by Anatole Prake as the sheriff of Scryer's Gulch. John's brother Rabbit is the deputy sheriff.
