King's Year: The way in which Tremont and most of its allies tally the years. Year Zero is the death of Temmin the Great, the first king of Tremont and founder of its royal family. No one is sure why time is reckoned by his death rather than his ascension. Our story begins in 990 KY, though the prologue is set in the Tremontine millennium. Dates are formally expressed as being "in the Year of Our Kings 990."
