Little Bird

Little Bird is a minor character in Scryer's Gulch. She is the widow of Laughing Man, the were-hare who bit Robert Runnels, and a were-hare herself. Laughing Man accidentally bit her during a shape change, and both were-folk were driven from their tribe. They set up camp in the mountains above Scryer's Gulch, drawn like most were-folk to the hermetauxite deposits.

She and Robert form a bittersweet relationship in the stand-alone story 'Fears Moon Woman,' found in the anthology 'Like a Moonrise: Shapeshifter Erotica' from Circlet Press. Unlike the PG-13 Gulch, that story is NC-17. At the end of the story, Robert swears to take care of her but Little Bird disappears, fearing Robert faces the same fate as her dead husband; Robert looks for her periodically in the mountains in hopes she will return but has so far been unsuccessful.
