Mother's House

A Mother's House is an orphanage in An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom run by the Mother's Temple.

Unwanted, abandoned or otherwise orphaned children are raised in a Mother's House. Though their primary function is caring for these orphaned children, the Mother's House does allow those who desire to adopt a child. Their charges receive a basic education, and most find employment in the service of the Mother, the military, or as a clerk. Being a child of the Mother is not a debilitating state, due to the funding and effort the Mother's Temple puts into the orphanages, but few are able to receive higher education without a rich sponsor or a distinguishing talent.

Women of any standing may always find a place caring for unwanted children, but it is a difficult and exhausting life, and few enter the service.
