Mother's Temple

The Mother's Temple is a religious institution in An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom, dedicated to the worship of the goddess Amma. The priestesses of Amma are also called Mothers, with the High Priestess being known as the Little Mother.

The Mother's Temple cares for abandoned children in adjunct facilities called Mother's Houses. A woman with nowhere else to go can almost always find a place at a Mother's House caring for unwanted children; while it isn't a punitive life, it is a difficult, exhausting one, and not every woman who could enter that service opts for it.

The oldest, most sacred Mother's Temple is in Ammahome in the Far Isles.
