Prophecy
From MeiLinWiki
Prophecies seem to play an important role in the Intimate History, although not everyone puts much store in them. Specifically, both Macca of Sairland and King Brinnid seem to easily discount prophecies when they don't come directly from the Gods and Goddesses.
Prophecies come in several different flavors.

Divine Revelations
Other times, the Gods directly reveal information, e.g. when Teacher met The Lovers for the first time, They told him to wait for Temmin, or more specifically for "the golden son of Whithorse, lover and beloved of the land". Sometimes, their revelations are less clear, as in the images Temmin saw when he drew down the Blessing with Allis/Neya during Neya's Spectacle in 990 KY.
Neya's Revelation to Temmin
- The green burst into bloom, simple, homely flowers at first — honeysuckle, pinks, sweet peas that made him think of Whithorse again. Then came white roses and gardenias, freesias and tuberose, the scent of the incense in Allis's ordeal. He remembered her suffering, and he wept as he kissed Her. With his tears, the blooms ripened into fruits, apples, pears and berries, and some whose names he didn't know.
- The fruit began to rot, and the smell of dry leaves filled his nose. Figures reappeared in her fathomless eyes. He saw his father on a battlefield, Sedra shielding a child, Ellika facing down Tremontine soldiers, Jenks galloping across the rolling hills of Whithorse with his cavalry sword in his hand, Ansella bloody-handed and in tears, and finally the Teacher and the Traveler Queen, wreathed in flames.
- "What's going to happen, Lady?" he asked with his last bit of control.
- "You will happen. You will choose to be either Temmin the Liberator or Temmin the Magnificent."
Harla's Revelations to Macca
Harla conversed with Macca near the Sleeping Youth several times, the first time in 630 KY:
- "Daughter, you please Me. You know the Dark Woman's ways. You keep your secrets and do not give them up, to anyone. You please Me. You are still the woman who left My sacred shores, and yet you make them believe you are not. You keep your secrets, and you please Me."
- "Lady, this way is hard, so hard."
- "As hard as this way is, it will be harder still. Know that I am with you. Keep your secrets and never let them go. Be what you are when they are not looking. Know they are foolish and you are wise, and when the time comes your wisdom will be revealed to them and they will bow down before you. My strength is your strength, Macca of Sairland. I will strengthen your hand when you need Me the most, and none shall best you. You shall stand triumphant against these men of Tremont. Go back to your husband, for My blessing is on you."
Shortly before Macca's death, when she was 81 years old, Macca again received a revelation from Harla:
- "You have suffered enough in this life, My daughter. Your time is ending. The wrong you have committed is now left to your descendants to right. Until they do, your bones can never rest with Ilhovin, and your spirit will be restless. And the magic your child lost will not return until your bones rest with your love where they belong."
- "The magic will go back to the kings then? Creith will never let me be interred in the royal chapel, but then, he should never have the magic."
- "You will not lie with Ilhovin for many years hence, but when you do, it is a sign that the magic’s return is near."
