Sairland

Sairland (pron. SARE-land) and the Far Isles is a country in the series An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom; it's usually referred to as just "Sairland." Sairland and Tremont have a close but love-hate sort of relationship; Sairland at one time occupied much of the continent Tremont sits on, and the two kingdoms have both had claims on each other's territories. Tremont claimed sovereignty over the Far Isles, and Sairland claimed sovereignty over the province of Belleth in Tremont. The Treaty of Ilhovin finally settled the matter, and both countries gave up their claims to the other's territory. Sairland proper occupies a peninsular region on the eastern continent controlled by the Nijan Empire.
Because Sairland is the older of the two civilizations and at one time a colonizer of Tremont, much of Tremont's culture comes from Sairland. The two countries share a language, a mythology and many customs.
