Talk:An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom

I like the idea from the forum for a "Society" category and moving the religions, cuisine, and publications categories into it as subheadings. We could make the economy another subcategory. In this scenario, does it make more sense to make a "Society" category for each country (Tremont, Sairland, and group the others until we have enough details for one of them to break it out too) or make each country another subcategory of "IHGK Societies"? ~capriox

I've created a Culture category to cover what's there already and moved all the matching uncategorized categories, including a new category "Magic" underneath it. As for how to further subdivide stuff by country - I have no idea. In fact, I'm leaning towards not dividing things that way until we have enough pages on cultural topics from the different places in the wiki for such a division to make sense.
Pages on the sexual mores of Tremont, Sairland etc. would be great, the same for the beauty ideals. Both are more effort than I am likely to expend in the next weeks, though, so feel free to give it a try. In fact, once I'm through the bonus stories and the remaining couple of chapters of book 2, I'll likely not create a whole lot of new pages for a while. Instead, I'll go over what's there already and categorize the whole lot (see below for ideas). Gudy 21:47, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

What are everyone's thoughts on a Time Line page? If it weren't such a huge amount of work, I'd be all for it myself, but I won't have much time for wiki duty until at least mid-May, and possibly even until summer. But I'd like to eventually have one, so I thought I'd start trawling for ideas. I'm currently envisioning a kind of tabular format with Date, Event and Reference columns, the last citing the chapter(s) and book(s) where the event is discussed in detail. I wouldn't want to make this the equivalent of an episode guide, so I'd like to restrict this to things like births and deaths of the major protagonists and antagonists of each story, and major events like Edmerka's enchantment by Maeb, Macca and Henrik's confrontation in Corharla Hill, Temmin's "meeting" with Nerr and Neya and their prophecy, etc. Thoughts, ideas, criticisms? I agree that putting *every* plot point on a Time Line would be a bit nuts. The usual sort of thing found in really dry history tests is probably enough: birth, deaths, marriages, battles (Macca vs. Henrik could go here <g>), divine events, major innovations?, etc. Something like the list of Tremontine kinds to help put all the stories in the Book in chronological context. ~ capriox
I have part of the work already done on this; I have to have it to keep the timeline straight myself! I worry I'll cross my own traces otherwise. --MeiLin 21:39, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Is it in a form you can easily toss on a wiki page where we can format & flesh it out for you? After you remove all the spoilery bits, of course ;-) ~ capriox
That would be awesome. Heck, I'll take it even if it isn't in a form you can easily toss on a wiki page, as long as it takes significantly less time to get it there than starting from scratch and going through the whole story again. Gudy 21:21, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Scryer's Gulch

I've added two new categories, Scryer's Valley and AIHotGK, and got on a huge categorization rampage over Christmas. The Scryer's Gulch pages are up to date, although most are nothing more than short stubs at this point. Gudy 08:25, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
