Tremont
From MeiLinWiki
TREMONT, pron. TREH-mont
The Greater Kingdom of Tremont and Litta Incorporating the Empire of the Southern Territories of Inchar, usually called Tremont for short, began nearly a thousand years before our story begins as a group of three clans (Three Mountains, White Horse, and Barley) brought together by Temmin the Great, recognized as the first king in the royal line. Time is reckoned in the kingdom, in fact, by the date of Temmin the Great's death; no one is sure exactly why Year Zero is marked by his death and not by his consolidation of power, but there it is. The neighboring eastern kingdom of Litta was incorporated into the kingdom by the marriage of Warin the Wise with Fredrik the Last's only child Edmerka in 166 KY. Corland, Kellen and Alzeh were once independent kingdoms like Litta, brought into Tremontine rule by either conquest, annexation or marriage; Valmouth was a city-state brought into the kingdom not long after Temmin the Great's death. Belleth was the last colonial foothold of the Sairish Empire and became part of Tremont with the Sairish withdrawal from the continent.
Tremont controls most of the continent on which it sits, has conquered most of Inchar, the continent to its direct south, and has colonized some of the remote island groups to the west of Inchar. Its main rival for world control is the Nijan Empire to the east. Its main ally for the last 350 years has been Sairland.
Tremont is also the family name of the ruling family of Tremont, and the name of the capital, though it is usually just referred to as the City. The name is a worn down version of Three Mountains, one of the original three clans. The three mountains referred to are located just outside the capital, which sits at the confluence of the Feather and Shadow Rivers.
The original duchy of Tremont is well-known for its blue, cave-aged cheeses.

TREMONT, pron. TREH-mont
The Greater Kingdom of Tremont and Leutefloss Incorporating the Empire of the Southern Territories of Inchar, usually called Tremont for short, began nearly a thousand years before our story begins as a group of three clans (Three Mountains, White Horse, and Barley) brought together by Temmin the Great, recognized as the first king in the royal line. Time is reckoned in the kingdom, in fact, by the date of Temmin the Great's death; no one is sure exactly why Year Zero is marked by his death and not by his consolidation of power, but there it is. The neighboring eastern kingdom of Leutefloss was incorporated into the kingdom by the marriage of Warin the Wise with Fredrik the Last's only child Edmerka in 166 KY, though she is known in the histories as Queen Emmae. (Their story is told in The Tale of Two Kingdoms.) Corland, formerly a neighboring kingdom to the northwest, was annexated after Macca's newly founded Royal Army beat back an invasion from the Northern Wastes.
Tremont controls most of the continent on which it sits, has conquered most of Inchar, the continent to its direct south, and has colonized some of the remote island groups to the west of Inchar. Its main rival for world control is the Nijan Empire to the east. Its main ally for the last 350 years has been Sairland, a peninsular country on the Nijan continent.
Tremont is also the family name of the ruling family of Tremont, and the name of the capital. The name is a worn down version of Three Mountains, one of the original three clans. The three mountains referred to are located just outside the capital, which also sits on the banks of the Shadow River.
The original duchy of Tremont is well-known for its blue, cave-aged cheeses.
Duchies of Tremont
Note: Some of these are now counted in the story as baronies or earldoms; they will be retconned in the edited books into duchies.
