A wise woman is an ancient term from the distant past of Tremont and related cultures. It refers to women who were trained in the use of women's magic, generally as healers, and that also served as intermediaries between the people and the gods before the Temple system was developed. In modern times, the practice is unknown and the term is relegated to myth, much like the idea of a fairy godmother. However, the Traveler Queen has been known to use women's magic in modern days in some of the same ways the ancient wise women were said to be able to do.

Two of the most famous wise women were Mavierna, beloved of the goddess Venna, and her protégé and lover Ennia. Their story is handed down in the myth called Ennia's Descent.
